A January 5 Zoom call to pray for Venezuela reached maximum capacity. It was led by the Evangelical Latin Alliance and the Evangelical Council of Venezuela.

Pastors and leaders represented of the states Zulia, Anzoátegui, Caracas, Guárico, Lara, Miranda, Aragua, Sucre, Bolívar, Táchira and Carabobo.
Hosts included Pastor Jose Piñero, executive director of the Evangelical Council of Venezuela (and coordinator of its commission of humanitarian affairs and cooperative dialogue) and Pastor Juan Maraver, the minister of accompaniment and vice president of the Evangelical Council of Venezuela, as well as its directors Nelson Sevilla and Zoraida Milano. All shared their concerns about the emotional effects on the population, emphasizing the need for an articulated church response.
The time of intercession was the central axis, raising, among other things, specific requests by:
- Peace and Resilience: For a population that needs the strength that only comes from above.
- Emotional Health: Especially for every Venezuelan.
- Provision and Care: Praying for every home’s daily provision and God’s comfort.
This day was not just a virtual meeting; it was a manifestation of the Church as a living body that we thank God for.

Message from the Evangelical Council of Venezuela in the face of current events
January 03, 2026
To all our affiliates and related.
In light of recent events that have impacted our nation, from the executive directorate of the Evangelical Council of Venezuela I wish to express the following:
- We extend our prayer and solidarity to all our brothers and fellow citizens going through moments of uncertainty or fear.
- We reaffirm our confidence in the sovereignty of God, who reigns over the nations and guides history according to his eternal purpose. Nothing is beyond His control, and in Him we find our peace.
- We are attentive to the unfolding of facts and pray for discernment to interpret the times wisely.
- We urge everyone not to be dominated by fear or anxiety. In times like these, it's vital to act with responsibility, and Christian solidarity as well as cultivate hope and stand firm in the faith.
- We encourage everyone to limit their exposure to social media and constant streams of information. We suggest setting aside a moment of the day to inform ourselves critically, and devote the rest of the time to prayer, brotherly communion, service, and other activities that build the well-being of our families and advance the Kingdom of God.
- We pray for peace in the country and for a true and lasting transformation that honors justice, truth and dignity of every citizen.
As a church, we remain committed to preaching the gospel, building up God’s people and the pursuit of the common good. May the Lord grant us wisdom, temperance and courage to be light in the midst of darkness.
Justice enlarges the nation.
Pr. José G Piñero, executive director of Evangelical Council of Venezuela
