Saskatchewan ministry encourages intergenerational relationships
Since its founding over a decade ago, Sisterhood Ministries of Saskatoon has become a national ministry for women. Established by a local woman named Char Quiring, the ministry is devoted to fostering community, biblical teaching and intergenerational relationships.
The idea for the ministry began in Quiring’s local congregation Elim Church where she identified a growing need for mentorship among women of all ages. “The Lord set this picture in my heart, a vision in my heart to bring women together of all generations to grow in faith together,” Quiring explains. “Very quickly we saw that more women than just the women in our local church were longing for this interaction.”

Sisterhood Ministries (SisterhoodMinistries.ca) hosts two large-scale events each year, drawing in 400 to 1,000 women for community, worship, prayer and teaching. Their November event, Made to Be Royal, featured speakers Karen Stiller and Heidi Lee Anderson whose messages addressed identity and purpose.
Beyond events Sisterhood launched Rooted in 2020 as a one-on-one mentorship program, now evolved into group mentorship pods. With 20 pods nationwide, the groups discuss topics such as grief, marriage, parenting, identity, biblical understanding and spiritual warfare. “We see women very hungry for biblical truth and community. This has helped fill the gap,” says Quiring.
In 2022 Sisterhood expanded with the creation of a publishing division named SHM Publishing. It produces Bible studies, mentorship materials and Wholehearted, a biannual magazine. In 2024 they also launched the podcast Let’s Talk About It to share discussions of faith-related topics.
Quiring says, “We aspire to create and foster a place of belonging, a loving community that not only feeds the souls of women with the inspiring Word of God, but excites women to devote themselves and their giftings to Him.”
