Your voice is needed at the table

If we lived our lives “as in heaven,” how would we relate to one another? What can we do now to live into that reality today? Canadian Foodgrains Bank shares two free resources.

When we pray, “Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven,” it evokes many images.

Can we even begin to picture what our world would be like if we were living this out fully? It would have to include an end to hunger and injustice.

If we lived our lives “as in heaven,” how would we relate to one another? What can we do now to live into that reality today?

Living out this vision shapes how we relate to among the people around us. But Jesus’ call to love our neighbours isn’t restricted to those nearby.

And the systems and ways of relating to one another required to bring about God’s will on earth require larger scale transformation.

It requires us to not turn a blind eye when people are suffering. Instead, we can raise our voices to help bring about justice.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank offers an effective way to add our voices to those conversations about global hunger.

The Foodgrains Bank is a partnership of 15 Canadian churches and church-based organizations who share the conviction that it is God’s desire that no person should go hungry. Together, we are a Christian response to hunger.

Currently, an estimated 720 million people live with chronic hunger around the world. How can we, who live in Canada, bring God’s will to earth in these situations?A-Voice-at-the-Table-Canadian-Foodgrains-Bank

That’s where our voices come in!

We call it advocacy, but to put it simply it’s speaking in support of, on behalf of, with our neighbours, to bring about change.

Have you ever wondered where your faith might involve speaking in this way? We offer a resource called A Voice at the Table to help Christians understand why our voice is important.

It provides Biblical examples of God calling and equipping advocates to seek justice.

It includes step-by-step guidance (plus access to additional resources) so that you can help bring life-giving relief and justice to our neighbours around the world impacted most by global hunger.

Or maybe you’re already eager and ready to take a step toward a world without hunger?

We’ve also created an easy way to let our leaders know you want Canada to do our part in ending global hunger. Visit foodgrainsbank.ca/postcard to send a digital postcard that calls for sustained Official Development Assistance (ODA) – the way countries like Canada provide aid. ODA supports immediate relief for those facing hunger crises, as well as building capacity for long-term resilience and food security.

In this way, God’s will is being brought about amid the crises and injustices of our world even today.

New systems and ways of relating to one another are taking root. Your voice really is needed at the table.
